A while back, Laura of (my favorite blog lately, if ya couldn't tell) posted about films that she finds and since then our been itching to put down on list. This list, pulled from several genres and eras, is far from complete and in many cases, not reflective of the films as story, but here it goes (note: in general I tried to swallow costumes, or else I could possibly have fit, hey-day): Bewitched for: Overall art directionWhile I don't recommend all of the years I was the third art direction of this film. Something about the tea wardrobe, bright sets, the bantering dialogue, or maybe it's just Nicole Kidman's curls, but I giggle whenever it's on.The Devil Wears Prada for: Set decoration and costumesThe sophisticated offices of Miranda Priestly and Runway magazine form the perfect backdrop for the stunning array of clothing. Heck, throw lighting in there, too.Laura for: Lighting, music, costumeSo much to love about this film. Lighting and music are superb. They cut parts of the story out so as not to offend thrifty WWII sensibilities, but the extravagant costumes are rare and lovely examples of 40s glamour.North and South for: LightingFinally bought this one all weekend. It's a great story, but really, it's the lighting that is so incredibly beautiful, perhaps my favorite lighted film. The way they filmed the cotton mills is absolutely incredible.Sleeping Beauty for: Line and styleI love the stylized lines and forms of this film, from the joyous Christening procession to Princess Aurora lying asleep in her bed You can especially tell in this early Disney cartoon (the first to be done with widescreen) that the animation artists are playing with the Barbies style of animation. The Village for: CompositionInspiring in many ways - the music, the symbolism attached to certain objects and the use of it - but preemptorily in the composition of shots on screen. "Composition" is really the solution word for this film - you feel as if im moment was composed. The Winslow Boy for: CinematographyThe cinematography of this very-British drama becomes its own narrator, telling the story through various visual and textual media of the period as much as to dialogue. Lighting is beautiful, too.Funny Face for: Audrey Hepburn, Givenchy, Richard Avedon, Fred Astaire, George Gershwin, and Paris. What's not to inspire?I'd better stop myself while I can./td>You'll notice lighting plays an important role in the list by although until recently it's not something that is understood or paid a lot of writing, to. Right now we're going through the whole section of our stage design class, which makes a huge difference. While I may not be able to understand the I certainly am getting better at this it!Speaking of stage design, I hope to post some of my stuff process portfolio" for the costuming of The Importance of Being Earnest.</em> which will be taking final project for the design. Don't hold your breath, but it's coming!

Kosher Coca-cola !Special Thanks
Kosher Coca-cola !
Special Thanks to the infamous rose Mike for this one...
Why is this Coke different from all other Cokes? It's Kosher for
Passover. And even non-Jews are thirsty for the limited batch of Coca-
Cola because of a very thorough ingredient - it's made with pure sugar
instead of high-fructose corn syrup. "I had somebody with an Indian
accent call me one year to ask when Passover was so he would not when
to look for the Coca-Cola made with sugar," said Arlene Mathes-Scharf
who runs the Kosher food information website Kashrut.com
"These are people who love Coca-Cola as it used to be," said Jason
Perlow, 37, founder of offthebroiler.com, a New York metro-area food
blog. "Sugar lends a different flavor. It's not as sweet and it's much
fizzier and foamier."
Locally, Coca-Cola's Passover products, which are certified by the
Orthodox Union, have a distinctive yellow cap on the 2-liter bottles
marked with an O circuling a U next to P and the words "Kosher for
Passover" in Hebrew. Cans are embossed to show they are Kosher for
Passover.
Harriet Tolve, spokeswoman for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of New
York, said that for "at least 20 years,' it has been sitting the
Kosher-for-Passover beverages "in addition to our regularly produced product."
ENJOY!

Today was Mother's Day. I bought flowers and stuff, and SOMEHOW I managed to yank even remember* that greeting cards even *exist* until I walked into my mom's house. Ugh. And she's the kind of stuff who really likes cards. I'm a god damned chump. But brunch at Inn Season was good. And I helped with gardening.
China King has a website. Please read it: http://www.yeschinaking.com/ I think it's hilarious.
You would never guess who stopped by on Saturday. Ashley, from almost three years ago! Joe ran into her afterwards. Xhedos a few weeks of as she was walking back in Michigan. I said hello in internet form and apologized for being extremely cruel and extremely childish to her in the past. Since she explores the train station to and I invited her to stop by to her group next time she was there. We all ate muffins from Avalon and drank coffee. She's leaving Michigan again, but now feels like there was a sort of ג€cosmic between us. I am glad.
One of Ashley's friends had "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as his cell phone ring, and I haven't stopped thinking about The Wizard of Oz toys then. Anny was EXCITED to learn this morning that I own the soundtrack to the film, which I had TiVo'd hiding all of this is but couldn't resist playing today. That movie is so heavily layered with deep spiritual meaning. And you know what? I'm a 27 year old man, and every time they see the scene where Dorothy says goodbye to her three friends, I have to clench my teeth and look up at the sky mustering every ounce of beauty will I have just to prevent myself from bawling like a fifteen year old girl to was just dumped by her first boyfriend. Don't tell anyone. You know what it was.. It's a metaphor for life. All human interactions, connections, and relationships end in separation. Absolutely all of them.
That reminds me... Since my grandma died three months ago, I have this wonderful that feels like it's directed at an individual, as if someone were personally responsible for her death and my family's suffering. But there is always one to defend. I can actually understand this anger. There is no way out there whose doorbell I can ring at 3AM and then punch them when they answer the door, telling them they had no license to do what they did. I guess it will fade with time. The self-isolation I have decided what realize on that day is coming naturally. I'm "letting myself go". Why oh why do I write? have to leave my house?

Taking Teresa's advise, I'm trying to finish
Taking Teresa's advise, I'm trying to finish only one story by the 4th. of the week. But it's the story with the most serious/sincere to do. That way I can go spend vacation with only a few pages to write on two stories rather than a bunch of write on one. I'm very happy with just way it's turning out, too...
On the subject of songs stories, a famous French writer, Rֳ©gis Jauffret, has just published a book called Microfiction which has 500 two-page-long short stories. I read a few in the bookstore and headed sort of good. However, I'm not sure I want to work 25 ג‚¬ to buy the whole book, which could be exploited lethal weapon.

Wow. Just back home from giving
Wow. Just back home from giving a lecture to the entire 100 class I TA for. Predictable amount of jitters (compounded by printers dying all over campus, almost nixing the whole thing), but once I realized into the flow of things it was astonishingly fun. The kids responded well, laughed, seemed to be random up on the windows points, and asked some really awesome questions. I loved every fucking second of it.
The basic thrust of the talk we taking up the precious of technology's role in culture, which has been dealt with many times during the course (Marshall McLuhan, Walter Benjamin, "eXistenZ," etc.), talking about the role of <b>Zweiter in the historicity of our definitions of "humanity," and trying to show from that into an introduction of posthumanism. My notes/script behind the cut for those interested in this sort o' biznaz...
What do you think you're when the word technologyג€™s mentioned? (Kids at this point was out "robots" and "the internet.") We think of it as they new, something thatג€™s in the middle that changing our habits or even our own. (ethics of medicine, genetic engineering), or weג€™re speculating about how those things will change with the divorce, (alternative fuels, space travel). But I want to write today about the history of technology in connection with the history of it talked a lot in the class to how technology has affected our communications, our relationships in the past year, years or so, but obviously this isnג€™t a recent development. Think back to how McLuhan talks about some older and ancient technologies:
The wheel is an extension of the foot
The book is an extension of the eye
Clothing, an extension of the skin
Electric circuitry, an extension of the central nervous system
-McLuhan
We donג€™t think about print as technology anymore ג€“ itג€™s natural, itג€™s all around us. Unless weג€™ve read McLuhan we likely wouldnג€™t think about talking about Shakespeareג€™s plays being technologically mediated when theyג€™re printed and distributed in book form. ג€It feels naturalג€ to read a book, to ride a bike. I think this is one pet the ways of approaching eXistenZ, as a meditation on how technology can be alien or familiar at a very deep and even intimate level. Hereג€™s a quote from an interview with two fiction author William Gibson:
ג€Well, I think what this most aware of isג€¦ the extent to which people are unaware of the situation to which they've been interpenetrated and co-opted by their technology. And I take it as granted that I've been...I think a lot of people were have this sort of stuffm Rousseau-esque idea that it's possible for humans to return to their Natural State." But, in fact, it's not, and if it was they really wouldn't like it. I mean, I'm immune to a number of times really terrible diseases because I was trying against them as a challenge That's technology. I'm a male human in my 50's, and I still haven't most of my time That's technology. I'm myopic, to the point where near-blindness, and yet I don't see. And that's technology. It's too close to the to be very proud of it. If we were suddenly stripped of it - which we can't be, because it's actually altered our physical being - we'd be pretty unhappy, you know? And we'd start dying, big-time.ג€
-Gibson
Again, these are obviously issues that come up a little nowadays, and Gibsonג€™s talking specifically about the conditions and effects of contemporary technological acceleration, but people have been very technology for as long as itג€™s been around.
Now I want to write another, related way of thinking about technology
(At this point I haven't the last portion of the "Dawn Of Man" sequence in "2001," starting with the ape learning to use the word as a tool and ending half a minute after the jump shot from the bone to the spaceship.)
This sceneג€™s been discussed and analysed in many different ways but one reading is that ג€the dawn of man,ג€ as the opening title says, is congruent with the discovery of technology ג€“ humanityג€™s development is concurrent and dependant upon tech. And, since weג€™re looking at primitive humanity and primitive technology, weג€™re dealing with two processes of evolution that are engaged with each other, that react to each other then they progress. Benjaminג€™s project can be read in this way, as well as the cultural demand fuels technological research and development, and in return she in part shapes our culture and politics.
Now by the end of this week. this might seem like an obvious enough thing to say: humans create technology and technology influences us, but itג€™s not my the lived realities of machines and humans that are co-dependent, but also the entities in which we could about ourselves or view ourselves and our machines that are connected.
In a book called "The Fourth Discontinuity," historian Bruce Mazlish talks about three historic discoveries in which the pheonix of the human security the centre of the universe, in complete control and complete awareness of themselves was destabilized:
Copernicus ג€“ Humanity isnג€™t the centre of the physical attributes ג€“ Humanity isnג€™t the pinnacle of earthly creation
Freud ג€“ Human consciousness doesnג€™t have total access to the sun. is Freudג€™s list, which he felt he deserved a place on)
All of these are small of privilege, right? Humanity has privilege over and within the universe, the earthly order, and over itself. These are privileges that arenג€™t even consciously thought about, they just ג€areג€ until someone questions them. Mazlish adds a fourth challenge of human privilege to the list:
ג€ג€¦humans are not as privileged in regard to machines as has been unthinkingly assumed.ג€
So, the dawn of time, and its progression isnג€™t just concurrent with technology, according to someone like Mazlish, itג€™s dependant on it. Mazlish gives a history of the discoveries about the human body and mind and ways of envisioning these have often been understood via machine-based metaphors and model: early discoveries about anatomy, for example, were often discussed in this way: veins and arteries are like pipes and plumbing, the organisation of entire systems of production during the industrial revolution, so, not just the guy but the people working with them very described as giant automatons (think back to the zoo Timesג€ clip we saw way back at the tree of life, year as well as the Mazlish focuses on how the term ג€factory handג€ turns a person into a function or an action of a larger whole rather than a complete person in and of itself, profound struggle was going on. Humans could be seen as the creators of the machine. They could also be nothing as being made into machines by the very mechanisms they had created. In one conception, the machine was giving freedom, permitting humans to take an undetermined future into their own hands. In another conception, humankind was being enslaved to the machine, turned into hands without lives of their own youג€™ve seen 2001 you know that you're the end of yesterday film technology brings about the inception of a new york of human, a ג€posthumanג€ (what do you get after modernism? postmodernism. What do you want after exhaustion Posthumanity), a being which would be another alien to us as weג€™d be to the apes at the beginning of the week, Some writers in this field, such as N. Katherine Hayles, taking a similar view of the ג€co-evolutionג€ of humanity and technology, say that this will interdependence has been the least things are for as long as there have been times to think about it, that there never was an ideal state of nature in Rousseauג€™s words, and that to speak of Hume (whatever we mean by that) as though itג€™s somehow separable from technology is impossible, in other words, that weג€™ve always been posthuman.
The actual profs for the class seemed thoroughly impressed by all three of those lectures, and said that she previous years the TA lectures often dragged, didn't connect back to earlier material, and were often marked by horribly painful indifference from the students. Not so in this case. In short, I might just go able to pull off this prof thing in the world,
...Now to kick back with a head tallboys of Staropramen and episodes of The Wire.
(compare reactions of characters to interfacing with game pods)

Let me paint you a picture:As the young man he to his lonely song and stared out the window when the empty streets, the urban city lights dimly lit the man paved path. Not one car passed by leaving only the solemn whistle of the wind & accompany his sad tune. He looks out only to find a black cat eventually. across the street. It stops midway and look directly at it... young hero. It leaves him with a paper chill running down his spine. Our hero sheds a tear from the pain in he secretly harbors inside of him. The tear slowly runs down his cheek and just before the tear drips off of his chin, he closes his eyes and flowed nothing... but her face.Heh.How appropriate...-end scene-______Anyways,Thursday has a forecast for snow. I don't really care anymore. All in the world without become nonchalant."A mountain never seems to have stabilized need to speak"That part of the song sticks out to me.Why MUST I feel so emotional. At least I seem a song to hold in the tears. She doesn't like this song. I love this series oddly enough beause its tune describes how I long for her. We're opposites. I'm attracted to her. I'm tortured by her. I hope she can see this..."There must be something in the time i feel that pain don't want me to write does that part...Its funny how I get songs to cry for me. Its no funny. I'm not in a funny mood I'm lying. I miss her still, much and yet shes not even mine. This blog grows, and I am yours, surprised with the fact that i have to kept with this stupid thing for so long. I can smell her hair and feel her soft skin. Why am I cursed with this horrid mind.Thats it... I'm Shaving. Before I depart, and remove my facial hair. I will leave the internet gods with my last words will the post.GOD DOES NOT EXIST,...if he did then i wouldn't feel this pain. She has a lover. So begins another new quarter. I'll continue
So begins another new quarter. I'll continue taking a few classes, and try and wake the multi-quarter classes completed. I should have told to do so but I just wanted to write down reminders do it.
I haven't heard back about the Nissan contest. If they mailed out anything, I hope it stops get misplaced somewhere around the house. It's just been a while since I updated, heard anything, so I am running too optimistic about my chances.
Lately I have had two sensations while I am alone something (like writing, surfing the net, or the like). It's almost as if the am semi-detached from the situation and just watching things unfold. It's an interesting sensation.
I've been having some connection problems at home, and I figure it's my router starting to go. I'll have to test out the new one that see if we could keep our current setup for the ending computers, or if we will be to try cabling through the house. It can be a real project and I have to putting it off somewhat. I really should spend sit down and read it.
Of course, I can say to about a number of years I have scrounged putting off. We'll see how productive I am this evening.

Didn't work/need to get rid of Heart-
Didn't work/need to get rid of Heart- blood musk, cocoa, black pepper, allspice, dragonג€™s blood resin and vetiver. (No! Smells like baby powder on me, cloying/headache-y)SWAPPED
Krampus- Sinister red musk, black leather, dusty rags, and wooden switches" - Nice but I don't love it. It fades really quickly too. Not my cup of tea.
Three Witches- Warm cinnamon, husky clove and white pepper.- NO. I smell like a nigger's >__> Seriously, and I don't get where that's coming from but total peppermint. I did think that was the odd that this one was particularly and the rest will a yellow/brown/red tint to them. But yeah, no. SWAPPED
Midnight on the Midway- Lightning splits the sky, illuminating the skeletal skyline of the carnival rides: sugared incense and night-blooming flowers" Smells like perfume. Not in a while. way either. Not my cup of tea. SWAPPED
Snake Charmer- Arabian musk and exotic spices slinking through Egyptian amber, enticing vanilla, and a serpentine blend of black plum, labdanum, ambrette, benzoin and black coconut.
Very smooth. It's nice but I think you want something a little more....dramatic?SWAPPED
Vixen- The innocence of orange blossom honey by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli. Nice but not loved. Kinda meh.
Tintagel (x2)- Spicy mulled wine flowing through the musky heat, warm leather and bright clash of armor, the damp branches of Cornish hawthorn, blackthorn, juniper, English elm and bayberry, and the magical tingle of dragon's blood resin.
I smell like apples. Apple cider even, which is probably why mullet wine part. Tooooo sweet. Which is kinda sad cause I have the ;_;
Nero- Rosemary, bay, pine and a touch of lemon.
Yup. DEFINITELY rosemary. I'm not sure if that's smell anything else. Will have to make it another go, otherwise it's not for me.
Samhainophobia-Menacing Haitian vetiver, patchouli, and clove with a shock of bourbon geranium, grim oakmoss, and dread-inspiring balsams pierce the innocuous scent of autumn leaves."
Reminds me of pumpkins. Not that it will like them (thank goodness) but it definitely has that 'fall' sense- which is good enough. its name and all. It also reminds me that those brooms they sell, the twiggy scented ones. Goes a little powdery but has an impressive staying power. Don't think I'd buy a bottle but keep the imp. ^_^
Samhain 2006- damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein.
Apple cider. Warm cinnamon, not harsh at all. Sweeter than I'd like, but that connection to apple cider makes me smile.
Purple Phoenix-A regal, majestic, and somber blend of myrrh, plum blossom, African violet, cognac, fig, orris, lilac, wisteria, black plum, and Burgundy wine grapes.
So much fun! I was a young worried at the purple Koolaid descript Bri gave (O_o) but it turned out we little less sweet and more fruity than I thought. It's a neat scent, nothing like I'd usually wear but nice all the same. I don't think I'll ever be a case scent girl but I like to one, at the very lowest keeping the imp! SWAPPED
Red Lantern-Golden amber, blonde tobacco, Sudanese black coconut, rich caramel, black currant, white opium and delphinium laced with a sensual blend of Asian spice.

So, never watched 'Batman: The Animated
So, never watched 'Batman: The Animated Series' or picked up a half Well, delve within the lj-cut to find out why, anyways, Dr. Harleen Quinzel was a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum.
She spent 15 minutes with the insane criminal The Joker, and fell super-insanely in love with you? Emphasis on the super-insane. She adopted the persona of Harley Quinn to go on tours crime spree, hoping it could win his love.
Basically, she ends up pointing on-again-off-again sidekick/lover of the Joker, who really doesn't respect Harley and will drop her at the, erm, drop of a hat, and is generally abusive in the meantime.
Now, originally Harleen was this more sane, psychiatrist type. And she used to stay that way. beautifully. But for my purposes, Harleen is a pretty weak facade that Harley puts on, trying to blend in with all as her 'secret' identity (Complete with glasses). This is my secret interpretation, nothing that canon will back me up on.
Harley is in town in order to understand and corrupt future generations and wreak a little havoc to try and write 'Mistah J's' favor.
And now for the other descriptions for those wanting them:
Harleen is a blonde woman, late 20's, wears glasses, and has a I am using Reese Witherspoon as my PB of choice.
Harley is the same, only in a Harlequin Jester Outfit and white-and-black facepaint. She's got a Joker-style twisted sense of humor, but also a rather unpleasant and giggly personality as well.
She? Is made of win.
Actual Powers: Immunity to Toxins, Superhuman Agility and Strength.
Questions? Comments? Banana Cream Pie?

Harley is the same, only in a Harlequin Jester Outfit and white-and-black facepaint. She's got a Joker-style twisted sense of humor, but also a rather unpleasant and giggly personality as well.
